General FAQ

The Electronic cigarette, also called an e-cigarette or e-cig, was initially designed to look like a cigarette, but with the ability to deliver nicotine without the need to burn tobacco. The technology allows people to enjoy recreational nicotine without inhaling smoke, or the 4000 chemicals that are in tobacco cigarettes.
Electronic cigarettes have come a long way since they were first invented, but to get you started, here is an explanation of how an electronic cigarette works and its important component parts.

The e-cigarette is made up of 3 parts:

  • The battery: e-cigs use re-chargeable lithium batteries. Tucked inside the battery is a switch that is triggered when the user inhales or power is manually applied, dependent upon e-cig type. When triggered the battery sends a charge to the atomizer.
  • The atomizer/tank: This is the ‘work horse’ of the electronic cigarette. An atomizer consists simply of a heater coil which is wound around a high temperature capillary wick. The wick; dependent upon the type of atomizer will be connected to the source of fluid to provide a continuously ‘wetted wick’. When power is applied to the coil and air is drawn across the wick wound coil, the fluid soaked wick is heated, providing atomized heated vapor to the user. The tank is the part that holds the e-liquid, this can be refilled when necessary.

There are several start up kits available which contain everything needed to begin vaping. They all contain a battery, clearomizer and charger. The most common differences are the battery size (mah) and style (regular, passthrough, variable voltage) and how much eliquid the clearomizer/tank will hold. Replacement atomizers are usually needed after around two weeks depending on usage.

Recent advances in technology have yielded many new style tanks and coils..

Once you have decided on e-cig hardware, you will need to choose an e-liquid flavor. This is the fun part. There are many, many flavors to choose from.

E-Liquid FAQ

E-liquid is generally very stable and should be stored with a childproof sealed cap on, in a cool place away from strong light.

All of our e-liquid can be used with any electronic cigarette.

Our e-liquids are sold in varying strengths even 0MG nicotine is available 6MG (Low) 12MG (Medium) and 18MG (Med High) 24MG (High) The strength you will need depends on how often you would like to use your e-cigarette.
If you smoke:

  • 1 pack of full flavor cigarettes per day a good starting point would be 18MG, 2 packs – 24MG
  • Lights 1 pack per day 12mg, more than 1 pack per day 18MG
  • Ultra lights 1 pack per day 6mg, more than 1 pack per day 12MG
  • For those who wish to step down their nicotine level it is possible to mix different strengths of the same flavor to obtain intermediate nicotine levels.
  • Many newer vape products use SUBOHM coils (below 1 ohm) these coils intensify the effects of nicotine. DO NOT use over 12mg nicotine with subohm coils.

All of our e-liquid contains Propylene Glycol (PG) and/or Vegetable Glycol (VG) which is the ingredient that produces the vapor. Although found in many foodstuffs, PG has been reported to cause a mild allergic reaction to some users such as mouth irritation. If you have any allergies we would advise you to contact your GP.
Some e-liquids contain nut flavorings.

The accepted shelf life of e-liquid is 2 years from the date of manufacture. The presence of air and light can start to oxidize the e-liquid and the color can darken with exposure, however this usually does not affect the flavor, strength or safety of e-liquid.

Bottles of e-liquid contain nicotine, which in its raw form is classed as a poison. However, e-liquid that is prepared for use in electronic cigarettes is heavily diluted from this high production concentration, and does not present the same danger as nicotine in its raw concentrated form.  Nevertheless, e-liquid must be treated with due respect and please note the following considerations.

  • ALWAYS keep e-cigarettes and e-liquid out of the reach of children and pets.
  • ALWAYS keep e-cigarettes and e-liquid in a childproof container with the lid firmly on.
  • Should an Adult, Child or Pet swallow ANY amount of e-liquid seek medical advice immediately, taking the bottle with you, enabling the Dr. or Vet to identify the e-liquid ingredients?
  • Should you get e-liquid on your skin, rinse it off with water as soon as possible.
  • Should you get e-liquid in your mouth, rinse your mouth out thoroughly with water.
  • DO NOT DRINK ELIQUID
Product FAQ

A dripper is a special atomizer which the e-liquid is dripped directly onto the atomizer, they are mostly used on “mods”. Mods are much larger than other electronic cigarettes. They use different batteries and can produce massive amounts of vapor. The products require winding your own coils and done incorrectly can result in physical harm to the device and the user. Research and instruction are necessary before using.

  • A Pass-through battery is a battery that can be charged with a standard USB cable via the bottom of the battery. This allows usage while charging and eliminates the need for back up batteries.
  • The Pass-through cable has a standard USB plug for connecting to a PC, car charger or a USB mains adapter. The other end of the cable connects to the battery allowing for continuous charging.

OHM refers to the coil, A higher OHM produces a smaller “hit” and uses less power than a lower OHM coil.

SUB OHM refers to a coil which is rated less than 1 OHM. These coils produce a large cloud of vapor and consume larger amounts of battery power and e-liquid. Disposable vapes use higher OHM Coils and small batteries.

MAH refers to the battery capacity. A 650mah battery might last 4-6 hours at light use while a 3000mah battery would last considerably longer using the same tank and wattage. That being said, many newer sub-ohm tanks will use up a 3000mah battery quickly when using high wattage.

A Variable Voltage battery is a battery that allows the user to change the amount of volts that heat the atomizer. Higher volts means more heat and vapor produced. When using high VG liquids (50% or higher) the voltage can be increased. With high PG liquids it is not necessary to use a variable voltage battery. Some e-liquids contain nut flavorings.

Troubleshooting FAQ

A flashing battery LED is an indication that it needs to be re-charged, or you are drawing on the battery too many times in quick succession. This can also happen when the atomizer needs to be replaced or there is liquid on the battery contact.

This indicates the battery is in need of charging, or it may mean your battery is still in its safety lock. To remove the safety lock press the power button 5 times in quick succession.

First ensure the battery and atomizer connections are clean before you assemble them, as dirt can cause a bad connection resulting in poor vapor production. A second reason for little or no vapor production could be flooding of the atomizer with e-liquid; this happens when drawing on the e-cig too hard or too fast. With electronic cigarettes it is better to take long steady light draws of 4 to 5 seconds. This can also happen if e-liquid has entered the central core of the clearomizer, unscrew the tank/clearomizer from the battery and blow through the drip tip, this should clear any e-liquid trapped inside. Try cleaning out the air holes in the bottom ring that holds the atomizer. Use a strait pin to clear the holes. No airflow will result in no vapor and make it difficult to draw on the e-cig. Do not cover the air holes with your fingers.

Several issues will cause liquid to be drawn into the mouth. Try each one until a solution is reach.

  • Open the clearomizer and verify that the clear rubber grommet is on the top of the atomizer. This part seals the tube to the atomizer. Do not remove it.
  • Did you just refill the tank? E-liquid may have accidentally got into the center tube. Remove the clearomizer from the battery and blow through the mouthpiece before re-attaching to the battery to clear any liquid in the center tube.
  • The atomizer is loose. Open the clearomizer and tighten the atomizer. Blow through the mouthpiece before re-attaching to the battery to clear any liquid in the center tube.
  • How old is the atomizer? Depending on the type of liquid you are using, an atomizer will last anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks. Try changing to a fresh atomizer. After filling, allow the liquid to soak into the wicks for at least 2 minutes before attaching to the battery.
Allowing the e-liquid to soak into the wicks is absolutely necessary. Applying power to a dry wick is like using a lighter on a rope.
  • Check the battery contact for liquid or dirt. Dry out any liquid. A dirty contact can prevent the unit from working properly.

Batteries not charging can be due to the contacts between the battery and the charger needing cleaning. It is advisable to check the cleanliness of the threads on both the battery and charger before each charge.

Batteries should not become very hot. Please read the following advice.
Almost all rechargeable devices use lithium batteries including our electronic cigarettes.
Our e-cigarette batteries contain electronic safety circuits which protect against short circuits and over charging, however this should not be relied upon when the battery is mishandled or dropped.
Lithium batteries can be a fire risk when care is not taken. Please read and follow the tips below to help avoid any potential problems.

  • Avoid charging, using or storing lithium batteries in extreme temperatures, high or low. – Do not attempt to charge the battery if the charging equipment is not in good condition.
  • Only charge the battery with the charging equipment supplied.
  • Transport batteries in non-conductive containers, and never in pockets with keys or loose coins.
  • Never use batteries when dropped or when the metal case is damaged.
  • Never leave charging batteries unattended.
  • Never submerge batteries in water.
  • If you feel excess heat coming from the battery, or if the battery begins to swell up, remove it to a safe area and leave it. The heat and swelling may cause the battery casing to explode and the chemicals to ignite, resulting in a fire.
  • Dispose of old or damaged batteries in an appropriate manner, recycle.

Should this be the case, we suggest you run through this quick checklist: Is the battery charged? Does the button light up? If the button does not light up, it may be turned off. Press it 5 times rapidly. Are the battery connections clean? If the atomizer is not new then it could be the atomizer has failed. Atomizers are sold as a disposable product and will eventually fail at some point.

This can happen if e-liquid has entered the central core of the clearomizer, unscrew the clearomizer from the battery and blow through the drip tip, this should clear any e-liquid trapped inside. Change the atomizer if this doesn’t correct the problem. Try taking slow low powered draws, too much force can draw the heat away from the atomizer before it can produce vapor.

This can sometimes happen if the wick inside the atomizer is not completely wet. First check that you have your product filled enough. Secondly try taking two inhales on the tip without pressing the power button, this will wet the wick and should clear the burning taste. If this is a brand new product please leave enough time before pressing the power button to allow the wicks to soak in the e-liquid.

Recent advances in technology have yielded many new style tanks and coils..

Once you have decided on ecig hardware, you will need to choose an e-liquid flavor. This is the fun part. There are many, many flavors to choose from.

Common flavor categories:

  • Tobacco

Common cigarette brand taste a-like

Flavored tobaccos like caramel, blueberry, cherry.

Menthol tobacco

Pipe and cigar

  • Fruits

Just about every fruit flavor is available

Fruit blends like lemon lime or strawberry banana

  • Drinks

Cola flavors like Pepsi, Coke, 7 up, Dr. pepper

Coffee, cappuccino, espresso, cocoa

Pina colada, whiskey, rum and the list continues

  • Other flavors

Cinnamon, hot cinnamon

Candy flavors like skittles, gummy bear

Chocolate, caramel, toffee

  • Mints

Peppermint, spearmint

Ice mint, candy mint

other flavors with mint added

You may use any flavor you like. Once you purchase a kit you can also optionally purchase different devices which will all work with the same battery which comes with the kit, other devices are located here.

Electronic cigarettes are used for recreational nicotine delivery. Many users find that after trying an e-cig, they no longer enjoy the taste of tobacco cigarettes, but some do still smoke cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes have not been tested as a ‘stop-smoking’ device, and Hoosier Vapor LLC does not promote them as such.
WHY ARE THEY SO POPULAR AND SHOULD I BUY ONE?
Making the switch from regular tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes can feel a little daunting, but those who have made the switch rarely look back and here are a few reasons why:

  • Smoking regular cigarettes anywhere is getting tougher by the day, but in many cases where cigarettes are banned –electronic cigarettes are allowed.
  • There is no tar, no carbon monoxide or many of the chemicals present when smoking a regular cigarette.
  • Research is currently being undertaken, and to date e-cigarettes are proving to be a very good alternative way to obtain nicotine. However this is still a new industry and more research is always welcome.
  • The sensation is very similar to smoking; users experience the same warmth and the same ‘hit’ at the back of the throat.

Generally, making the switch means saving money. There are many variables associated with how much you can save.  Basically, using our lowest cost liquid and a basic e-cig kit could save up to 80%. Some users like to experiment with different products and try new flavors frequently which adds to their overall cost.

E-Liquid FAQ

This will vary as to the type of electronic cigarette used, whether you are a heavy vaper and to a certain extent the way you operate the device (long regular inhalations against infrequent short inhalations).  You will establish quite quickly how much e-liquid you are using, and this will guide you as to how much e-liquid you’ll need to buy in the future. For a general guide you would be using around 1.6ml per day for a 1 pack per day smoker using normal starter kit products. Variable voltage batteries and dual coil atomizers use more liquid. Plan to purchase approximately 1.6ml of liquid based on each pack of cigarettes that you currently smoke and 1 atomizer for each 20ml of e-liquid.Electronic cigarettes have come a long way since they were first invented, but to get you started, here is an explanation of how an electronic cigarette works and its important component parts.

Product FAQ

We have chosen not to sell the cig-alikes or disposable cigarettes for a number of reasons.
One being that a lot of people are put off e-cigarettes by using the disposable slim products, this is because the batteries used are very low power and therefore do not produce a high enough standard of vapor. The batteries themselves also have a very short lifespan. The products we sell are high quality and are made to be used on a daily basis.

  • The LED at the mini-USB socket lights red when the battery is taking charge; when this LED shuts off it means the battery is fully charged. The Pass-through cable can be disconnected from the battery and used cable free.

A 1300mAh battery is longer than the 650mAh battery, a 1300mAh battery will also last longer before needing to be charged than the 650mAh battery. The difference can be thought of as number of puffs before re-charging is necessary. You could expect to get more than twice the number of puffs from the 1300mah battery.

  • Many newer vape products use SUBOHM coils (below 1 ohm) these coils intensify the effects of nicotine. DO NOT use over 12mg nicotine with subohm coils.

Older style clearomizers used a top coil atomizer with long wicks which absorbed liquid and fed it up to the atomizer. The drawback to this was that the liquid had to travel up the wicks before reaching the atomizer coil. The newer bottom coils allow the liquid to sit on top of the coil and prevent dry wicks and burnt taste. With these products you can replace the atomizer without having to replace the entire product.

Basically it is what it says it is. The single coil atomizer has one coil. That is the wire wrapped around the wick. A dual coil atomizer has 2 wires and 2 wicks. The dual coil burns the liquid more efficiently and reduces burnt taste.

This depends on what type of battery and liquid you are using. If you are using a standard EGO battery and a high PG e-liquid then a 2.4 – 2.5 ohm atomizer is best.  If you are using a 50pg/50vg or higher vg blend e-liquid and a standard ego battery then a 1.8 ohm atomizer will burn hotter and might be a better choice. If using a variable voltage battery or any battery with the voltage set to be above 4v then you may need a 2.4-2.5Ohm atomizer. High PG liquids will produce a burnt taste when used with high voltage.
1.8Ohm – Will produce more heat which will create more vapor and throat hit. Good for higher vg based liquids.
2.4-2.5Ohm – Will produce slightly less heat and less vapor. Best for high PG liquids to prevent burnt taste.
Works well with variable voltage batteries or batteries with an output of over 3.8
